Maku is perhaps the biggest town you will come across after coming through the border at Bazargan border. Much as Bazargan , Maku is mostly a place to pass through on your way to inner Iran or if you heading west to Turkey.
That said you can take some time and go seeing a number of local sites such as Qareh Kelisa which is citadel and at the same time acting as a Cathedral.
