Maku is mostly is know for Qare Kelisa and Chaldoran battle fields.
Qare Kelisa or Church of St. Thaddaeus (Սուրբ Թադէոսի վանք), a UNESCO registered site (http://whc.unesco.org/en/list/1262) is one of earliest churches in Iran, supposedly built around 40 AD. there are some anectodal reference to St Batholomew as well. St Thaddaeus was killed by then Armenian king. Services are not held regularly any more but you can still get to see the church.

- Pir Ahmad Kandi historic cemetery in rural Avajiq
- Bshguz bridge near the town of Maku
- The triangular ruins in Qezel Dagh village
- Stone room in the Delic Dash village
- Zor Zor Church in the village of Baron
- Dominican church at the foothills of Mount Qāyeh
- Stone room in the Deh Sangar village
- Mother Mary Church in the north of Maku
- Kolah Farangi (a building that looks like old european hats!) in Maku hospital
- Baghche jooq Garden House
From the top f the mountains around Maku you can practically see all four neighboring countries of Turkey, Azerbaijan and Armenia.
There are lots of little vilalges with nice orchards all around the Maku. such as the villages of Baron, Rand, Hendvar, trench, and Juq castle and gardens .
